Christian Garcia holds Bachelor and Master of Music in Performance degrees from Texas Tech University and the University of New Mexico (UNM), respectively. His teachers include Marcia Fountain, Alexander Ezerman, and David Schepps in cello, and Susan Kempter and Lisa Collins in String Pedagogy. He has participated in the Killington Music Festival and the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, both in Vermont. At these festivals he studied with Stefan Kartman and Rhonda Rider. While at the University of New Mexico, he participated in the String Pedagogy Program and taught in the UNM Lab School. Christian is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) and has registered training from Pre-Twinkle through Book 10, all with Tanya Carey of Roosevelt University. In June 2013 he registered Unit 1 training in Music Mind Games with Michiko Yurko.

Christian has been a member of the Lubbock Symphony, El Paso Symphony, and has served as the Assistant Principal Cellist of the Midland-Odessa Symphony. In June 2010, he concluded a wonderful two year position as the resident cellist and tenor at Grace United Methodist Church in El Paso, Texas.  Christian’s love of performing has provided him opportunities to perform musicals and operas as well as performing with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Michael W. Smith and Jennifer Hudson, Marco Antonio Solis, and Country Swing Band “Asleep at the Wheel”.

Aside from being a performing cellist, he has taught with the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras, taught at Hummingbird Music Camp in Jemez Springs, NM, maintained a private studio, taught with the Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association’s Elementary Strings Program, and held the position of Education Director for El Paso Opera. Christian is currently on the cello faculty at the Nevada School of the Arts (NSA) in the Suzuki Talent Education Program, Marketing Coordinator for NSA, Low-Strings Specialist Paraprofessional in the Clark County School District, and freelance cellist in the Las Vegas area.
