Chamber Music at Utah Tech University
Chamber Music has a central role in the music curriculum at Utah Tech University. As a part of the thorough music education, smaller ensemble playing is essential in building sensitive listening skills, intonation, flexibility, as well as communication and rehearsal skills. The String Chamber Music class (MUSC 4430) at Utah Tech University offers a focused setting for the extensive study of the standard chamber music literature for strings as well as for strings in combination with other families of instruments.
Students enrolled in String Chamber Music receive weekly chamber coachings and perform regularly in chamber master classes. Student chamber groups perform at the end of each semester and participate in performances in other on and off campus occasions. Students also have numerous opportunities to work with internationally recognized artists. Recent events include guest master classes by the Juilliard String Quartet, ATOS Trio, Joe Trio and members of the Utah Symphony Orchestra. Also visit the String Studies page for other aspects of the UT string program.
