Dr. Jarom Coleman currently teaches clarinet at Utah Tech University, performs with the Utah Festival Opera, and maintains a private studio in southern Utah. He most recently played with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra from 2018-2023 and has played with the Huntsville Symphony, Starkville-MSU Symphony, and the Utah Festival Chorus and Orchestra clarinet sections.
As a soloist and chamber musician, he performs frequently at State and International Festivals. He is also active in the music education community with performances at the Alabama Music Educators Association Conference and the Utah Music Teachers Association Conference. He enjoys working with young musicians giving clinics at various high schools and honor bands. During the 2020-22 seasons, he served as the Woodwind Specialist and Assistant Conductor with the Northern Utah Youth Symphony.
Before coming to Utah Tech University, Dr. Coleman was the Director of Woodwinds/Assistant Professor at Southern Utah University, Faculty-Associate of Clarinet at Utah State University, and Visiting Clarinet Instructor at Brigham Young University.
Dr. Coleman holds degrees from the University of Alabama (DMA), The Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University (MM), and Brigham Young University (BM), where he studied with Dr. Osiris J. Molina, Howard Klug and Eric Hoeprich (period clarinet), and Dr. Jaren Hinckley, respectively.
