Tichenor is a violinist and educator native to southern Utah. She has been involved in and performing throughout her local community for many years. She received a Bachelors of Science with an emphasis of Music from Dixie State University in 2012 where she led as Concert Master of the DIxie State Symphony Orchestra from 2008-2012. Following her studies she was the Concert Master of the Southwest Symphony until she took a sabbatical in 2016. She has been the lead violinist in the pit orchestra for the Tuacahn Center for the Arts since 2008. Recently performing for the Count of Monte Cristo and Beauty and the Beast. Regional premiers she has performed for include The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Disney’s When You Wish, Prince of Egypt, and the Count of Monte Cristo. Tara has performed in front of audiences since she was a young student. She was the recipient of many scholarships in the Southern Utah Performing Arts Festival and all received Superior ratings in the Southern Utah Strings Festival as well as the Southern Utah Performing Arts Festival. She was a finalist for the Solute to Youth Competition where she performed with the Southwest Symphony Orchestra. She also Performed as a soloist with the Orchestra of Southern Utah, Dixie State Symphony Orchestra and the Heritage Choir. Tara has collaborated with many professional artists and groups including Mannheim Steamroller, Celtic Women, Gentry, Kurt Bester, William Joseph, Jenny Oaks Baker, David Archuleta, Alex Boye and Lexi Walker. Along with her love for the classical arts she has a 20+ year love for Celtic Music where she has received instruction from Grammy award winning Natalie Macmaster. She performs with her family Celtic band, Dixie’s Got Talent winners, “ Wooden Tantrum” through out Southern Utah. Tara started the early morning strings program at Legacy Elementary and is currently an adjunct Strings professor at Utah Tech University. She has adjudicated for local festivals and school competitions and has been a been a clinician for Music programs in Southern Utah and Nevada. She is a wife and a mother of 4 while continuing to instruct in her exclusive studio. She is passionate about helping students develop a love for their talents and a desire to share their music.
