Calling All Cellists

The Cello Festival of Southern Utah will be held on September 19-20, 2025 in Utah Tech University’s Eccles Fine Arts Center.  Dedicated to promoting the learning, enjoyment, and community-involvement in cello playing, the two-day Festival will offer a lots of wonderful opportunities for cellists of all ages and all levels. This year we are glad to have Daniel Gaisford, Hojung Kim, Dr. Robert Tueller, Dr. Simona Barbu, Dr. Nariaki Sugiura, Eric Yip, Kar-Yee Li, and Dr. Elliott and Carey Cheney, as the Festival’s featured artists and clinicians.  The festival events include large cello ensemble sessions and guest-artist and faculty performances, chamber music, cello master classes, the ASTA Cello Lecture Series, the Junior Cello Festival and Brimhall Cello Competition, and other workshop and performance opportunities.

The $50 registration ($45 before July 15!) includes access to every performance, workshop and event in the festival, a free Festival T-shirt, as well as a complimentary lunch (shirt and lunch not provided if registering after Sept 10). With other events in the same weekend as the cello festival, affordable hotel availability may be limited. Out-of-town festival participants are therefore encouraged to make lodging plans as soon as possible. Please contact Dr. Ka-Wai Yu the Festival Director if you need any help.  Free lodging offered by local cellists and families may be available.
