Biography:
Dr. Timothy Francis is Assistant Professor of Music at Utah Tech University, teaching Music Theory, Composition, and Low Brass. Dr. Francis received his B.M.A. in Brass Pedagogy at Brigham Young University – Idaho, M.M. in Theory and Composition at the University of Northern Colorado, and Ph.D. in Music Theory at the University of Oregon. He enjoys learning about Music Theory Pedagogy and Musical Energetics, and his compositions and arrangements have been performed throughout much of the Pacific Northwest, including performances by the Murray Symphony, the University of Oregon Concert Choir, the Sospiro New Music Vocal Ensemble, and the Ambrosia Ensemble. Dr. Francis serves as principal trombone in the Southwest Symphony Orchestra, and plays with the Southern Utah Rebel Jazz Band and occasionally in other venues around Washington County. When not involved in music, Dr. Francis also enjoys gardening, woodworking, and spending time—especially outdoors—with his wife and kids.
