Organized by Dr. Candice Behrmann Tenney, the Festival will be held Saturday February 12, 2022 from 9 am – 8 pm. Flutists, Clarinetists, Oboists, Bassoonists, and Saxophonists of All ages and skill levels are invited to attend. This year we welcome our Guest Artist Tanner Dawson. Tanner plays all woodwinds professionally in pit orchestras around the United States. He will be giving masterclasses to collegiate woodwind students, and will also be participating in our closing recital.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn the art of doubling, improvisation and beatboxing. They will be able to attend masterclasses and recitals, participate in a woodwind choir. If you are thinking about buying an instrument, we will have exhibits to play instruments, look for sheet music and accessories.
This is the second year we will be hosting the Woodwind Young Artist Competition. There are five levels of competition: Middle School, Intermediate, High School, Collegiate (undergraduate) and Adult. Prizes will be awarded in each division.There is a $25 dollar entry fee. Prizes will include: A chance to solo with the Dixie State University Flute Choir in the Fall of 2022; Gift cards to music stores; Cash prizes and so much more.
