Young Artist Competition

You are invited to participate in the annual Young Artist Competition on February 14, 2026. We have a lot of talent in Utah, Arizona, and Nevada and we want to showcase this talent!

Five levels of competition on each instrument

(Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, and Bassoon )
Level 1 Intermediate School Grades 6-7
Level 2 Middle School Grades 8-9
Level 3 High School Grades 10-12
Level 4 Collegiate Undergraduate only
Level 5 Adult

Students may try out for a higher level, but they cannot go down a level. Prizes will be awarded for each level of competition. This competition is virtual using video submissions. Winners will be announced at the Woodwind Day. Participants are not required to be present to receive their award.

Please register for the competition by February 10, 2026.

Virtual Competition: video submissions are due on February 10, 2026. Please send videos to Dr. Candice Behrmann Tenney at candice.behrmann@utahtech.edu

Video submissions should include:
-Required repertoire (see grade level below)
-Solo of your choice (no accompaniment required)

Registration fee:

There is a $25 registration fee for the competition

Prizes:

Prizes awarded in each instrument and category

  • First prize will include an opportunity to solo with the Utah Tech University Flute Choir Fall of 2026
  • Prizes include a free lesson with a Utah Tech University woodwind professor
